In the Foundation Unit (what we used to call Kindergarten and Reception) we promote pupil development by encouraging the children to have an enquiring mind using the guidance of the 7 Areas of Learning, as set out by the EYFS (Early Years foundation stage)

The Foundation Unit is split into 2 classes:

  • Foundation 1 ages 3-4 years
  • Foundation 2 ages 4-5 years (rising 5s)

We also offer afternoon sessions for 2.5 year olds, prior to their 3rd  birthday. Children can come and learn to be independent in a secure environment.

The Foundation Unit has a designated garden/outside area, where children can enjoy playing and exploring their environment.  In our vegetable plot we grow plants and vegetables and learn how to take care of them.

Annual outings and regular trips to the local surroundings extend learning and offer stimulating opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem.

Trained staff and specialist teachers provide a range of activities such as:- French, Music, Speech & Drama, Choir, PE, Swimming, ICT and individual music lessons.

Here at Crowstone our day is balanced with fun learning and play.  We celebrate all our achievements with a daily circle time.  Our small class size means learning is individually tailored to each child and family needs whether  it's for a morning or two or maybe for five full days.  We are flexible and able to accommodate parents' needs.  Daily contact with parents via our open door policy means your concerns are dealt with immediately.
