My wife and I were searching for private schools where we could enrol our four year old daughter. A shortlist of suitable places was drawn up, before viewings were carried out with our daughter. We certainly found a little hidden gem in Crowstone Preparatory School, which stood out immediately as a neat and well-organised establishment. The first impressions were of a very warm, family atmosphere; reflecting high standards and morals. The classes are purposely small, to help encourage pupils to excel in their studies, given the amount of focus and attention they receive. Our daughter took an instant liking to the school premises, and the friendliness of the proprietors, Mr & Mrs Thayer; along with a teacher who welcomed us on our visit.
We were introduced to a lady teaching the foundation class who has now become a very important role model and certainly made a huge impact on the learning skills of our daughter. The level of teaching and improvement of reading and writing reflected over such a short period already has been phenomenal. There is no shortage either of extra activities outside the classroom; with sports, music and drama themes all on offer. There is a consistent flow of homework that is generally set each evening, including fun projects to complete over the school holiday periods. This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to develop and learn skills at a young age, which will no doubt be most beneficial in later years to come.
All of the teachers we have met are very helpful and friendly, and our daughter has really made such a special bond with them. It will be very sad when she reaches the age that she can no longer attend Crowstone school, as she likes everything about it so far, and therefore will be hard to replace.
